Parkside Dwellings, Cleveland, Ohio
In 1909 the location of this triangular site was ideal when Edson A. Cass, architect and builder, decided to create his residential community. Across the road was a narrow strop of Rockefeller Park and two small universities, the case School of Applied Science and Adelbert College of Western Reserve. The location also offered a quick, easy way of traveling of traveling five miles west to downtown Cleveland because it was next to the former streetcar turnaround for which University Circle received its name. Since then this area has been very dynamic. The two universities merged to become Case Western Reserve University. The streetcars have been replaced by a swift, efficient bus, transit network that has a stop at the front door. The world renowned Cleveland Orchestra built its magnificent home at the end of the street. The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Natural History Museum, and numerous other institutions and amenities have located within walking distance to form a cultural campus that is rivaled by few cities.
Parkside Dwelling is fortunate to offer its residents the opportunity to be part of the culture University Circle provides. Live and experience the extraordinary accomplishments of the past while anticipating the exciting vision for the future of University Circle.
